Welcome to The Cochran Firm, Founded over 40 years ago by Legendary attorney Johnnie L. Cochran.

We fight for justice throughout Southern California and statewide. Founded over 40 years ago by famed attorney Johnnie L. Understanding Your Civil Rights
The civil rights granted by the United States Constitution come primarily from the following:
  • The Fourth Amendment: Protects you against illegal searches and seizures and police brutality. We have been successful in handling these civil rights cases, as well as unlawful arrest and wrongful conviction cases, which often involve violations of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment’s “due process of law” clauses.
  • The First Amendment: Guarantees freedom of speech and provides protection against retaliation. This is especially applicable to whistleblower cases—also known as a qui tam lawsuit.
  • The Civil Rights Act of 1964: Prohibits federal and state governments and employers from discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin. This is often referenced in employment law cases.
Types of Police Misconduct/Civil Rights Violations
The Cochran Firm has a team of police misconduct attorneys who are committed to helping you secure damages for civil rights violations. We have expertise in litigating civil rights cases involving all forms of misconduct and fraud by police and prosecutors, including:

Trial Lawyers for the People…..

When we get involved, we seek economic justice, and will make every effort to make this a better and safer world through your case.

First comes the phone call. Or e-mail. Or you just stop by our Firm, the same Firm Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. made history from for several decades. You speak with one of our highly trained legal assistants, we take down the information, and it is evaluated and summarized by our intake department.

The intake personnel directly discuss your case with one of our lawyers, often one of our partners, as quickly as possible. Shortly thereafter, you’re meeting with a Cochran Firm lawyer, a Trial Lawyer for the People like you, and discussing the beginning of a legal relationship. Here’s what you can expect.

First, our commitment. We are excellent in the fields we practice. Whether it be civil rights, employment law, discrimination, negligence, medical malpractice, product liability, government road design, insurance bad faith, complex medical injury or death, we bring decades of skills and accomplishments to the relationship. What we offer to you is our collective passion, intellect, and legal power. And we do this for you on a contingency fee. If we don’t win, you don’t pay us. We advance all costs. We are there for you, guiding you through the legal process.

The family approach of the Cochran Firm is seen throughout our work. From the friendliness of our receptionists, to the intake department, then to the team of lawyers and legal specialists working for you, we bring a personal and hands-on approach to our task. Economic justice. Changing the world, one case at a time. As Johnnie used to say, everybody from the O’Jays to the No Jays….
